In addition to these cases, he was the lead attorney in several cases in which the jury was unable to convict, and the cases were dismissed. In the criminal field, Michael has been successful in jury trials and pre-trial matters, motions to suppress evidence, motions to suppress statements, post-conviction relief, habeas matters, etc. For example, Michael had a client facing more than thirty years in federal prison for a series of alleged violent crimes, and that client’s charges were dismissed. The client was released from custody based on psychological factors that Michael was able to present to the Judge.
Not only has Michael been successful in the criminal arena, he has also been successful in the civil arena. He has obtained favorable jury verdicts in personal injury cases. He has received the “policy limits” on several cases. One of his most memorable cases involved an injured client whose car was rear-ended, but there was little damage to the car. Michael believed in his client, fought for him, and obtained a favorable result from the jury that compensated his client for his medical bills, pain and suffering, and disability. Michael is not afraid. He has sued the United States and won, and he sued a Georgia county and won. He has represented all types of people. For example, he has obtained six-figure settlements for an illegal alien, for a young woman that completely recovered, and for a client who was performing work in another’s home. In civil cases, Michael has been victorious in both the Federal and Georgia appellate courts. He also has been victorious in the immigration arena in both Immigration Court and the Immigration Appellate Courts.
Michael has been able to use his superior strategic skills to advance the businesses of his clients. He represented a company that started small and was bought out for millions. He also represented a company that grew to a level that a publicly held company bought it. One of his favorite clients started his business in a garage and through hard work and proper decision making, grew his business to almost twenty million dollars in annual revenues.
Michael is active in his community. He taught a law course at Kennesaw State University, and he belongs to the Cobb County Bar Association where he is a former chaplain. Michael also coached the McEachern High School mock trial team to a region championship. Michael is respected having been appointed special assistant attorney general for the State of Georgia and on many occasions as a special master by the Cobb County Superior Court. Michael is an active member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Cobb County Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has been a trustee for his synagogue.
